Are you the owner or architect of an agricultural property that impresses with special architectural solutions, at the same time allowing for contemporary use and integrating excellently into the surrounding cultural landscape? Then you should definitely apply for the Landbaukultur-Preis 2022, which is being awarded for the fifth time by the Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster Foundation.

The prize is awarded for buildings in rural areas or outdoor facilities on farms. Owners can apply with their houses, stables, barns and farm shops, but also with their farm gardens or the entire farm ensemble. Awards are given for new buildings and conversions. The Landbaukultur-Preis is endowed with a total of 30,000 € in prize money. Entries are open to residents of Germany, Austria and Switzerland who have planned, built or converted the property together with an architect or landscape architect.

This year's patron of the competition is Federal Minister of Building Klara Geywitz:“There are wonderful examples where architects and their clients have succeeded in creating new buildings in rural areas that are functional, sustainable, typical of the region and simply beautiful,” the Minister makes clear. “Furthermore, the preservation and conversion of former agricultural buildings for new living and working is an important contribution to the future of rural areas. The Landbaukultur-Preis honours such beacons of rural building and is thus an important source of impetus and ideas.”

The jury is made up of renowned architects and experts from agriculture and rural areas. It is chaired by Susanne Wartzeck, President of the Association of German Architects (BDA).

The competition is supported by well-known media partners from the trade and consumer media. In addition to the agricultural trade magazines “top agrar” and “top agrar Österreich”, “Landlust”, “Landlust Zuhaus” and, in Switzerland, “BauernZeitung” and “die grüne” will report on the competition.

The deadline for applications is 31 October 2022 (date of receipt). Further information and the application documents can be found at www.landbaukultur-preis.de.
