Deutsche Medien-Manufaktur (DMM) is celebrating two milestone birthdays in the coming months: LANDLUST magazine is turning 20—the first issue was published on October 27, 2005. The lifestyle magazine LIVING AT HOME looks back on 25 years of existence – first issue: November 2000. Both brands have set standards with their own unique styles and today stand for contemporary joie de vivre, creativity, sustainability, and individual living.
What began in 2005 with a small, passionate editorial team has developed into a phenomenon in the German-language magazine market: LANDLUST has reinterpreted the rural lifestyle – with nature themes, seasonal cuisine, and practical DIY ideas. LANDLUST has thus become the most successful new magazine launch of the past decades and is now one of Germany's highest-circulation magazines, with a most recent IVW circulation figure of around 650,000 copies sold. LIVING AT HOME will continue to accompany its readers for several more years: since 2000, the magazine has stood for urban, creative homes—and has been a source of inspiration for modern interior design, enjoyable cuisine, and individual styling ever since. With a mix of inspiration, trends, and practical tips, LIVING AT HOME is now celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Sinja Schütte, editor-in-chief of both magazines: 'LANDLUST and LIVING AT HOME cater to different lifestyles, but share a central philosophy: they focus on authenticity, quality, and beauty in everyday life. Both reflect a deep longing for a conscious, slower-paced life. Our readers don't just want to consume, they want to create – whether it's a flower bed, a dinner or their own home. We give them the right ideas to do so – and that will continue to be our mission in the future.'
Both brands have significantly expanded their digital presence in recent years: with websites, newsletters, and digital courses, they now reach a diverse target group—from traditional readers to the digital do-it-yourself community. The LANDLUST brand operates a successful online shop, publishes book and calendar series, sells a wool collection and paints, and awards a seal of approval to selected country hotels. The magazine has thus become a whole world of living.
To mark the anniversary, both brands are releasing specially designed editions, for which special sales activities are planned:
In its latest issue, LANDLUST reveals the winners of its big interactive campaign, “My Landlust Garden Project,” in which around 2,600 readers took part. Among the winners are a vegetable greenhouse built from old windows and an imaginative garden shower. Also in the magazine: a competition with prizes including garden furniture from Niehoff Garden, a weekend at the Landhotel Voshövel, and a visit to the Wendt & Kühn factory—plus LANDLUST moments, a look back at 20 years of LANDLUST.
The anniversary edition of LIVING AT HOME will be published on September 12, 2025. It will be the most comprehensive edition ever, with 196 pages. It will include a journey through 25 years of design, cuisine, and gardening, as well as a big competition with attractive prizes worth a total of around €30,000.
Various special promotions are planned for distribution, ranging from posters in a wide variety of sizes to shelf trays and window advertising in train station bookshops. The magazines will feature special anniversary subscription offers. There will also be wide-reaching social media campaigns for both magazines.
