Total prize money of €30,000
Are you the owner or architect of an agricultural property that impresses with its unique architectural solutions, enables contemporary use, and blends perfectly into the surrounding cultural landscape? Then you should definitely apply for the Landbaukultur Prize 2025/2026, which is being awarded for the sixth time by the Landwirtschaftsverlag Foundation.
The award is given to buildings in rural areas or outdoor facilities on farms. Owners can apply with their residential buildings, stables, barns, and farm shops, as well as their farm gardens or even their entire farm complex. Both new buildings and renovations are eligible for the award. The Landbaukultur Prize is endowed with a total of €30,000 in prize money. Anyone who is resident in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland and who has planned, built, or renovated the property together with an architect or landscape architect is eligible to participate.
This year's patron of the competition is Federal Minister of Construction Verena Hubertz, Member of the German Bundestag: 'Our villages and rural areas need to retain their own strong identity. The Rural Culture Award puts the spotlight on this important issue. This is a wonderful and important signal. Rural areas form one of the foundations for the creation of new living space and new meeting places. New construction and renovation projects combine regional building materials and traditional construction methods with modern ideas and innovative methods. This results in award-winning buildings that not only enrich the landscape, but also respond specifically to local needs, promote local development, and strengthen social cohesion. As patron, I am very happy to support this.' The jury is made up of renowned architects and experts from agriculture and rural areas. It is chaired by Susanne Wartzeck, President of the Association of German Architects (BDA).
The competition is supported by well-known media partners from the specialist and consumer media sectors. In addition to the agricultural trade magazines “top agrar” and “top agrar Österreich,” “Landlust,” “Landlust Zuhaus,” and, in Switzerland, ‘BauernZeitung’ and “die grüne” will also be reporting on the competition.
The application deadline is September 30, 2025, 12:00 noon (postmark). Further information and application documents can be found at www.landbaukultur-preis.de.
