Lebensmittel Praxis launches ‘Initiative Standort Deutschland’

Lebensmittel Praxis has launched the ‘Initiative Standort Deutschland’ in cooperation with its sister titles essen & trinken and top agrar. In special formats, individual articles and events, the three renowned titles of the Landwirtschaftsverlag Group will show the importance of Germany as a business location for the food value chain, from production to processing and trade to consumption.

‘Together with the food retail sector, the agricultural and food industry provides well over 2.5 million jobs in Germany. This shows how important this sector of the economy is for our prosperity. Together with the companies, we want to make it clear what is at stake if bureaucracy, high energy costs, staff shortages and consumer reluctance continue to burden the entire value chain and politicians fail to take countermeasures,’ says Hendrik Varnholt, Editor-in-Chief of Lebensmittel Praxis.

The project starts with issue 8 of Lebensmittel Praxis (published on 7 May), which is a themed issue focusing exclusively on the “Initiative Standort Deutschland”. In features and reports, the editorial team of LP presents what makes the food industry special: A wealth of ideas, innovative spirit and entrepreneurship. Personalities from the industry will explain the importance of the location for their companies, as well as the challenges and risks for the future.

essen & trinken and top agrar explore the topic in greater depth in individual articles in their June issues, which will be published on 8 and 20 May. ‘Using selected products and companies as examples, top agrar will show how the supply of raw materials from local production can be ensured,’ says Matthias Schulze Steinmann, editor-in-chief of top agrar, describing the focus of the reporting. ‘Buying regionally and paying attention to the origin of food is practically part of essen & trinken's DNA. We are therefore very happy to take up the topic and supplement it with the consumer's perspective,’ says Arabelle Stieg, Editorial Director of essen & trinken.

A conference on the topic will then be held in autumn. ‘Together with retailers, industry and politicians, we want to discuss the opportunities and risks for Germany as a business location along the value chain. Using examples of best practice and good ideas for the location, we want to make the new government aware of the industry's concerns,’ says Hendrik Varnholt, describing the content of the event.

‘We invite companies and organisations in the food industry to take part in the ‘Initiative Standort Deutschland’. Make it clear what you do for Germany as a business location and what framework conditions you expect from the new federal government for the future,’ says Torsten Zelleröhr, Head of Media Sales at Lebensmittel Praxis, explaining the many opportunities to get involved.
