Further measures implemented as part of the sustainability strategy

In recent weeks, Landwirtschaftsverlag has implemented further measures toward achieving its goal of climate neutrality at its Münster-Hiltrup site. Additional PV systems have been installed on the roofs and facades of individual buildings. With the newly created capacity, Landwirtschaftsverlag now has a total output of 160 KWp in conjunction with the existing systems. This allows approximately 140,000 kWh of electricity to be generated per year.

The heating systems are also being further modernized and optimized. Intelligent smart thermostats are being installed in the old building on Hülsebrockstraße (Publishing House 1). This will significantly reduce gas consumption. The properties on Bodelschwinghstraße and Kastanienallee now have environmentally friendly wood pellet heating and an air-water heat pump, respectively. Publishing houses 2 and 3 on Hülsebrockstraße, built in 2007 and 2016, have been cooled in summer and heated in winter using geothermal heat pumps since they were commissioned.

Another focus of the sustainability strategy is e-mobility. The group's vehicle fleet is gradually being converted to fully electric vehicles. These are charged with solar power generated on site at Hülsebrockstraße. The agricultural publishing house now has 10 charging stations with a total of 20 charging points at its Münster-Hiltrup site.

Marc Schürmann, commercial director of Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster and responsible for real estate development: 'Our goal is to be climate neutral at our Münster-Hiltrup site by 2030. With this in mind, we are planning to install additional photovoltaic systems on our buildings, some of which will be combined with battery storage systems. In this way, we are making an active contribution to the City of Münster's Climate City Agreement, which we joined in February 2024.'
