Herbert Schneeweiß will become the new Editor-in-Chief of REGAL, the industry magazine for trade and industry in the food sector in Austria, on 1 August this year. The 48-year-old communication scientist has been an important part of the REGAL editorial team for 19 years. In terms of content, Schneeweiß has focussed on the top-selling product groups in the Austrian food trade. These primarily include dairy products, meat and sausage, fruit and vegetables, bread and baked goods as well as wine. Since 2007, the thoroughbred journalist has also ensured smooth editorial processes as ‘Chief of Service’ and coordinates the collaboration between the editorial, production and advertising departments.

„We are delighted to have Herbert Schneeweiß on board. He is an excellent journalist with the best knowledge of the industry. His professional, journalistic and digital expertise will help us to further develop REGAL as the most important and therefore indispensable industry magazine for the Austrian food industry“, says Dr Ludger Schulze Pals, Managing Director of Lebensmittel Praxis-Verlag, to which REGAL belongs, looking forward to new impulses.

Herbert Schneeweiß replaces Dr Gregor Schuhmayer, who has been editor-in-chief of REGAL for more than 16 years. Schuhmayer will leave the publishing house on 31 July 2024 to take on new challenges. „Together with his father Dir. Manfred Schuhmayer, who founded REGAL 50 years ago, Dr Gregor Schuhmayer has rendered outstanding services to the magazine. We would like to say thank you for a total of around 30 years of passion for REGAL,“ says Ludger Schulze Pals, summarising a successful term of office.

With a circulation (print and digital) of 27,000 issues (11 issues per year), REGAL is by far the highest-circulation magazine for the food industry in Austria (print, newsletter, website and social media). The editorial programme is supplemented by target group-specific events. These include, for example, the ‘Branchentreff’ in Vienna and the ‘Tag des Handels’ in Gmunden. In REGAL, the decision-makers in the retail centres and in the industry have their say, as do the movers and shakers on the ground. The editorial team provides its readers with useful expertise on strategies, products and sales processes. The magazine and the publishing house of the same name belong to the German Lebensmittel Praxis-Verlag, which in turn is part of the Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster group of companies.
