This year, Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster is supporting the ‘Midwife Mobile’ of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) and the ‘Suppendonnerstag’ project of Gemeindediakonie Hiltrup e.V. with its traditional Christmas donation of €2,500 each. ‘With our donation, we are supporting people who need help on the one hand and, on the other, we are supporting those who are making a valuable contribution to the cohesion of our society with their often voluntary initiatives,’ emphasised Managing Directors Dr Ludger Schulze Pals and Malte Schwerdtfeger when handing over the donations to Andrea Moraldo and Joana Lodzik from the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund and Elisabeth Kaup and Joachim Riemann from Gemeindediakonie Hiltrup at the Landwirtschaftsverlag publishing house on 19 December.

The midwife mobile of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund e.V.
The ASB midwife mobile reaches pregnant women and young mothers in the Münsterland region who would otherwise have no access to care during this important phase of life. The ‘midwives on wheels’ alleviate the gaps in care in rural areas and also travel to neighbourhoods ‘with special development needs’ in order to reach and support people with a low level of education, low income or language barriers. ‘Many women don't know that they are entitled to adequate counselling and care from a midwife. It is precisely in these cases that ASB wants to help so that the beginning is ‘good’,’ Andrea Moraldo and Joana Lodzik explain the project, which is financed purely by donations.

The ‘Soup Thursday’ project organised by Gemeindediakonie Hiltrup e.V.
Gemeindediakonie Hiltrup wants to prevent older people from becoming increasingly lonely. This gave rise to the idea of offering a freshly cooked, hot soup once a week in the parish hall of the Protestant parish of Hiltrup. Rising food prices have meant that ‘more and more people in need, not just from Hiltrup, are taking up the offer. Our volunteers get to talk to the men and women and listen to the worries and concerns of the guests,’ say Elisabeth Kaup and Joachim Riemann, describing the social function of “Soup Thursday”.

‘We've been doing without presents for customers at Christmas for years. The money is much better spent on the ‘Midwife Mobile’ and ‘Soup Thursday’,’ Dr Ludger Schulze Pals is convinced. ‘On behalf of the entire staff, we would like to thank our business partners for their understanding and for the wonderful cooperation. We wish everyone a peaceful and wonderful Christmas and a successful year 2025,’ says Malte Schwerdtfeger.
