The fundraising campaign “Together for Ukraine” launched by the trade magazines top agrar Germany, top agrar Polska and top agrar Austria has already realized a total of 16 measures and projects in Poland and Ukraine worth almost € 60.000. So far, a total of about €150.000 in donations have been deposited in the account of Caritas Münster. “We would like to thank all those responsible at Caritas in Poland and Münster, the Lublin Chamber of Agriculture as well as the farmers' wives and farmers for their great commitment on site and, of course, all the donors,” Karol Bujoczek, Guido Höner and Matthias Schulze Steinmann, the editors-in-chief of top agrar Polska and top agrar, are pleased about the current interim status.
All the money will reach the people affected by the war in Ukraine. “In cooperation with the pastors and mayors of the region, almost 500 people in the Lublin region will be housed and fed with the donations. The focus of our relief efforts is on children with handicaps, mothers with small children and elderly people,” explains Karol Bujoczek, Editor-in-Chief of top agrar Polska. For children with disabilities, young mothers and senior citizens who have lost their facilities, houses and flats due to the war, the situation is dramatic. “They need a lot of support when making a new start in Poland to organize everyday life in the foreign environment. That is why we concentrate on these groups with our projects,” says the editor-in-chief.
Another focus is on organizing relief transports to Lviv (Lemberg). The Lublin Chamber of Agriculture buys food, medicine and other relief supplies in Poland and organizes the transport to Ukraine. There, local aid organizations take over the further distribution. “An end to the war is not in sight. The need for support for the people who have fled to Poland and for those who have stayed in Ukraine and lost everything continues to be huge,” Bujoczek describes the situation.
The donations account of Caritas Münster is still active: Caritasverband für die Diözese Münster e. V., IBAN: DE47 4006 0265 0004 1005 05, BIC: GENODEM1DKM, reason for payment: “Together for Ukraine”.
